Greens Aerification

Go ahead and mark down on your calendars July 15 and 16 we will be aerifying our greens.  I know there have been a few question marks as to why we would be doing them--as some have indicated that the Diamond Zoysia didn't have to be core aerified.  This is a myth and a misconception.  Any living plant needs air to breath--thus our greens need to allow oxygen and other gas exchanges to take place when we core aerify.  This will also alleviate some of the compacted areas that we have, remove excessive thatch build up, and allow better water penetration and efficiency of uptake.  We will close 9 holes on the 15 and open the aerified 9 on the 16 and close the other 9.  All and all I am projecting that it should take 2 weeks for us to really begin healing with full recovery in a month.  This is all weather dependent as well as how fast the zoysia really wants to move!  This is our first aerification on the zoysia, so I am sure their will be some kinks to iron out in the future, but we will do all that we can to minimize the damage to the greens and have you golfing on smooth healthy greens quickly!  Thanks for your understanding, and do not hesitate to ask me questions as you see me on the course throughout the weeks ahead.  I will provide more information in the coming days/weeks.  Thanks!
